Welcome Home has become so much more than just a workshop.. it's a great big gorgeous family and we want others to have the opportunity to be involved in this growing community too.. :)

So what is the workshop about?

The Welcome Home Workshop will focus on developing your artistic voice, finding your niche market, understanding and developing your brand, valuing the client experience, managing expectations and staying inspired.

Within these topics I will also be covering...

To have a little look at some of the workshops that have been before have a look HERE... and HERE!

But it's not just about what you experience on the day.  Welcome Home has become a strong community of supportive photographers who share advice and experiences... they second shoot for each other and are even shooting each other's weddings.  I'm proud to be a part of such a wonderfully supportive and positive bunch of mo fos..

So if you decide to come along.. Welcome Home also gives you..
  • Immediate access to the Facebook group
We now have a total of 70 homies in the group.  They chat every day asking questions and offering each other advice and have been on hand for each other whether that's a pricing issue or needing to borrow kit for a wedding... oh and they also like a good laugh and a good dance.. :)
This 2 day retreat was born out of the homies wanting to get together.. especially as many of them attended different workshops but felt like they knew each other from the FB group.  So in April it was Welcome Break time!  We headed to a wonderful farm in Warwick and slept in Yurts and teepees.. ate good food, played rounders, danced and did the conga.. and then hated it when we had to leave.  It was better than we ever could have imagined and we can't wait for the next one!
  • Exclusive opportunities for one to one mentoring sessions
Starting in 2014 I will be offering homies one to one mentoring sessions as part of Welcome Home.  After the workshop it's always incredible to watch attendees build, develop and make changes to their businesses and I think a natural progression is to spend some time looking at the effect of these changes.. what's working.. what maybe isn't working so well.. and why.  These sessions will be tailored to you and will be offered exclusively to attendees of Welcome Home.

Instalments
Both Manchester and London workshops are limited to 15 places.  A few of you have emailed to ask if you can pay in instalments so we wanted to let peeps know that if you'd like to come and join us in MANCHESTER then you can secure your place now with a £200 deposit with the remaining amount due by the 1st October.. :)

If you would like to pay in instalments then please email at info@emmacasephotography.com.  Also if you're worried about where you're at with your business and if the workshop is right for you, then... don't.. :)  Just drop me an email (I promise I don't bite) and we can go from there..

Here's a few words from past attendees..

"I'd long been an admirer of Emma's work and her attitude towards wedding photography, and was starting to hit my stride with my own fledgling photography business when she announced she'd be doing workshops. I'd done a handful of photography workshops before but knew this one would have a lot more soul, would probably attract a good, like-minded crowd and would be less 'all about the gear' and more 'all about the love of it'.
I was at a point where I'd photographed around a dozen weddings and was really enjoying it - but I wanted to find out where I could improve, talk about the business side of things (and check I was doing things right) and get a bit of insight into what sparks Emma's, as well as the other nine Homies', imaginations and creativity. On the day we had an overview of running a photography business, how to improve your own service and clients' experiences; a couples' shoot where Emma explained how she works and how she puts people at ease while she poses them, and a lot of the day was spent brainstorming and learning from each other too, as well as telling stories from our own experiences. By the end of the day we had explored all areas; we'd all laughed, a few of us cried and I walked away with a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach that finally I could feel confident enough to really do my own thing, and that everything would be alright in the end. 10 months on, everyone who has been part of the growing Welcome Home community discusses ideas, opinions and asks each other for help and advice on a daily basis. I've never been so happy to be part of something, and attending the Welcome Home workshop is definitely up there as one of my best business decisions so far. BIG LOVE TO EMMA AND PETE."

"Home to me is where you can be yourself, you can be free and feel loved for who you are and what you are and what you do. This amazing day made me feel so at home in a room full of people I had never met before that felt like family by the end of the day.
Emma you spoke from your heart, we saw your passion, what gives you butterflies.
You made me feel butterflies and the biggest thing for me? you made me realise that it's ok to just be me behind my camera.
Bingo.
There it is.
Welcome Home."

So what are you waiting for????  We would absolutely love to see you there!

welcome home {Dublin and Brum}

So we did another two workshops! One at our office in the Custard Factory and one in the beautiful city of Dublin!  It feels quite a while ago now but having said that.. looking over the images from all the homies that came and shared.. again.. I feel so bloody thankful that we get to do them and how the little bubble of Welcome Home always seems to feel so special..

So first up.. Dublin.. we headed over with the lovely Lee and Dawn from Shutterbox Films and with a day to chill.. pretty much ate our way around the city.  We enjoyed the most amazing Bento Box from ukiyo (you have to go there) and then later that night we had the most beautiful 3 course dinner at our workshop venue.. Fallon&Byrne.. (you have to go there too!).. see I told you we ate a lot.

The following day we headed back to Fallon & Byrne to meet a new bunch of homies.. and what an amazing bunch.  We laughed a lot, maybe cried a little bit, had the best lunch provided by Fallon & Bryne (including the biggest sandwiches you've ever seen - so big Dawn called them 'events') and then had the absolute pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Kate and Brian for the afternoon.  After the workshop we all then headed to a Mexican for the best tapas and to catch up with the lovely ladies from One Fab Day.  Add a cooked breakfast the following morning and we had truly eaten our way through Dublin.. and as you might have guessed.. we loved every single minute of it.  I'm actually embaressed to say that I'd never been over to Ireland before.. and this is definitely going to be my first trip of many..

So first up.. our amazing friends/partners in crime, Shutterbox Films made us another friggin' amazing little film of our Dublin workshop.. honestly.. these guys blow us away every single time.  It was so nice as this time I said to Lee to just play.. there was no agenda as we'd filmed other workshops before so he was free to be creative.. and this is what this pair do best.. give them your wedding.. your event.. give them the reigns and just watch the magic.. :)  We can never thank these guys enough and we have an absolute ball with them every time..

I also want to say a huge thank you to all that helped us out for both these workshops.. we couldn't have done it without you guys!!
Shutterbox Films, Fotofafa, Folio Albums, Everybody Smile, HipHip, Fallon & Bryne, One Fab Day, Century Studios,  Kate and Brian, Adam and Lizzie.. we love you guys!

Here's some images of the gorgeous Kate and Brian followed by some images of the day from some of the homies..

A big thank you to Christina Brosnan and Brideen for the following images..

The following week we were back and cosy in our office and had another 14 new homies join the ever-growing group!  This was our second workshop at the office and it was quite a squish but the group were fantastic.. completely opening up, sharing ideas.. giving so much inspite of their much bigger audience.  We also had the gorgeous Adam aka Mr Rock My Wedding and his beautiful lady Lizzie model for us which was bloody lovely.  Adam hadn't had a couple shoot before so it was so so nice to be able to give them the experience and also some photos of them together.. they totally nailed it and were an absolute pleasure to shoot.Again.. (I feel like a bit of a broken record) but every time we do another workshop I'm blown away.  When I first looked at what I wanted to talk about I never realised just how important it was to me.  I've learnt so much about myself.. about my style.. about what is truly important to me as a photographer and to me as a person.  I have learnt something from each homie that comes and shares their story and with each workshop I go away feeling more positive, more inspired, more creative and more determined about this wonderful journey we're on..Here's some of my images of Adam and Lizzie followed by a selection of images of the day from some of the homies.. :)
A big thanks to Paul Stott and Binky Nixon for the below images..

We now have over 70 homies and have had our first 'Welcome Break' last week where 30 of us went glamping and danced our socks off.  The Facebook group is a huge melting pot of advice, support and laughs and by coming on this workshop every single one of them has made a pledge... to nurture and invest in this family we have created but also to nurture and invest in themselves.. to look at their 'home', whatever, wherever or whoever that might be.. and to be honest and open about their journey. It just doesn't get much better...

welcome break..

I wanted to write this post now because I didn't want these feelings to fade.. the memories to become more hazy.. to forget just how impactful the past few days have been..

Just to fill you in.. we have been running workshops for the past year called Welcome Home.  We have done six workshops so far.. all across the country and as far as Ireland and they have become far more than just a workshop to both me and Pete and to hopefully every person that joins us.  Not only have we met the most extraordinary people.. but we have created something.. an understanding of what is really important.. when you peel all the superficials away what you are left with.. relationships, family, feelings, connections, experiences, memories, life..  This workshop has opened my eyes.. and I mean really opened them and given me so much clarity and the emotion that goes along with that is kinda hard to explain..

But.. back to this week.. the 'homies' wanted to meet up.. to get together.. there are around 65 of them now so we decided to organise a retreat.. a few days away from it all.. no agenda, no workshop, no teaching.. just a hang out.  We found the amazing Talton Lodge in Warwickshire and on Tuesday afternoon 30 of us arrived with packed cars having shared lifts and bringing everything but the kitchen sink.  We sat on blankets in the sun.. eating homemade cake, played rounders with lambs as fielders, danced to nineties dance music, had an impromptu conga around the tipi, laughed until our sides ached,  ate the most amazing food, sang happy birthday (which then turned in to us all doing the Superman dance), talked and shared and most importantly.. we switched off.  It was honestly the best three days..

Coming home yesterday I wrote in the Facebook group..

I don't know what it is about the last few days but I've come home feeling totally inspired.. but in kinda the opposite way. I've come away with a huge sense of life is too short and although our business is super important to us.. this little trip made me realise what's important to us in our personal life too. I don't want to miss out on doing the conga around a tipi or playing rounders in the sun.. I don't want my life to be on hold while my business thrives.. so.. I'm gonna write my own, personal to do list.. things for me.. and I'm going to promise myself right now to live more.. to surround myself with good people and to laugh and dance as much as possible.. and then let's see what new stories we'll be telling each other next year sat around that fire..

It really has changed me.  It's made me more ambitious.. but for myself.. for me to put an importance on making my own memories, my own goals away from the next booking or blog feature.. what do I really want to achieve?  What do I really want to look back on?  I know one thing for sure.. every time I look back on Welcome Break everything feels right.. and I definitely want more of that.

And.. you know what.. nobody gave a shit.  Nobody cared how many weddings you'd booked or how long you'd been shooting for.. or which blogs you'd been featured in.. none of that mattered.  What mattered was having a laugh.. and if you had a signature dance move.. or which bit of cake to eat.. or getting a rounder.. or a cup of tea or a G&T..

..and as you can see.. I spent most of the time with a G&T in my hand and not a camera.. ;)

We also might have spent a good part of Wednesday afternoon doing this.. :)

Here's some of the lovely blog posts from some of the homies... oh and you might notice a few ladies in wedding dresses.. well one of the homies had two wedding dresses in their boot and the next minute two girls had them on with flowers and a bike.. and then an angry swan got involved.. you know.. as you do..

So both me and Pete just want to say the biggest thank you to this bunch of crazy fools for making this little trip so special.. and for being so lovely.. it was friggin' awesome beyond words and I want to be back there right this second..

Welcome Break 2014 anyone???? :)

welcome home..

Next week we head to Dublin for our first Welcome Home Workshop of 2013.. I can't describe how this little family of open, supportive, emotive and kind photographers make me feel.  They make me so proud to be a part of this.. and together we really have created something pretty special.  I can't wait to meet the new bunch of homies and to continue to watch with pride this family grow and grow..

Last year we visited three cities.. three workshops in a week.. our own little road trip.. we met so many incredible people.. and loved every minute..

Shutterbox.. seriously guys.. stop being so incredibly amazing.. this little film makes me cry every time I watch it. Thank you.. thank you.. thank you.. thank you..

We adore sharing this adventure with you..

welcome home workshops 2013

Now that the turkey has been eaten (and the chocolates.. and the mince pies) and a shiny new year is upon us I thought I'd let you guys know that we have some Welcome Home Workshops coming up in March.. (which is coming round pretty fast!).  I honestly cannot believe that we now have a group of nearly 50 Homies that have all attended the workshop.. and seeing them support and encourage each other in the Welcome Home Facebook group has been incredible.. I think it's definitely time for a little reunion maybe... :)

It's been absolutely amazing watching Welcome Home grow and develop and to actually see how much people are taking away... whilst you plan you always hope that they will discover and learn but it has gone beyond every expectation.  I can honestly say that homies have walked away from the workshop not only with practical tools but with new found confidence, direction, enthusiasm, fire in their bellies, support and friendship.  I'm proud as punch to watch all the new things they are implementing into their businesses, their ambitious attitudes and their total support to each other... it's bloody ace...

So if you are thinking of joining the gang then you can find out a little bit more on the WELCOME HOME WEBSITE.. and if you want to see what other groups have got up to then you can see HERE and HERE..

Also if you're thinking of waiting to see if there will be a workshop in your city.. these will be the last few workshops for a while now as me and Pete are planning on travelling a bit at the end of the year so I'd BOOK YOUR PLACE now!

This will be a half day workshop which will include topics from the full day workshop excluding the photography shoot with the couple, my post processing and workflow.  It will be specifically tailored for anyone with a creative business and we want you to come away from the day, not only with practical tools for your business but also buckets of inspiration and support.. we would love for you to be a part of this growing community.. and we don't think you should have to use a camera to be part of it! :)

This workshop will focus on developing your artistic voice, finding your niche market, understanding and developing your brand, connecting with your 'why', valuing the client experience, managing expectations and staying inspired..

So if you are NON-PHOTOGRAPHER and are interested in coming to our first WELCOME HOME CREATIVES Workshop one then you can book your place HERE...

Please note that this workshop is much smaller and has no technical aspects of photography therefore, for photographers this is a very different workshop from our Welcome Home Workshop.  If you have any questions about either workshop then please email at info@emmacasephotography.com
